Recipes

We have 1 recipe for Garrotxa in our recipe section.

Garrotxa (pronounced gah-rotch-ah) is a semi-firm goats milk cheese from the Catalonia region of Northern Spain. Its name comes from the Garrotxa area of Catalonia. Though generally known as a goats milk cheese, there are also cow and goats milk blends as well. It is made from either pasteurized or non-pasteurized milk.

Garrotxa has a velvety blue-gray rind with a white interior. It has a mellow, nutty taste with herbal and fruity undertones. The small wheels of cheese generally weigh about 1 kilo (2.2 pounds) and are about 18cm (7 inches) in diameter. The cheese is aged from 2 to 4 months.
